The two-wire system refers to a wire drawn from both ends of the thermal resistance. This measurement method is simple, but because the resistance of the connecting line cannot be eliminated, it will cause measurement errors, and it is often used in occasions that do not require short distances. The two-wire connection method is not suitable for thermal resistance with accuracy class A of platinum resistance.
The three-wire system connects one lead at one end of the thermistor root and two leads at the other end. This method is often used in conjunction with bridges. Two wires are connected to the two bridge backs of the bridge, and the other wire is connected to the power supply of the bridge, eliminating the error of wire resistance. This is a method commonly used in industry.
The four-wire system connects two wires at both ends of the root of the platinum resistance, two of which provide a constant current for the thermal resistance and convert the resistance into a voltage signal; the other two wires measure the voltage above the thermal resistance. Due to the high internal resistance of the voltage measuring instrument and no shunt, the measured voltage is completely the voltage at both ends of the platinum resistor. The method has high precision and is suitable for high precision measurement.
